The In Between Of Creative Vulnerability

$550.00

I created this piece after receiving disappointing news. They say rejection is all part of the path for creatives but it doesn’t make it feel any less raw. There is so much vulnerability that comes with putting out your creativity in the world. At first it can feel scary and liberating all on your own. But then you release the opinions of others and the vulnerability feels different/ It takes a different form, it lives in my body, it makes up stories in my head. And if everything aligns then those stories will be quieted by the outside validation. But sometimes it doesn’t align, others don’t see or feel it and you’re left with the aftermath of vulnerability. Proud of yourself that you put it out there and didn’t give up, but drifting in a sea of new doubts, trying to soothe them with statements like “something better is coming along”. This piece represents that middle ground of feeling the hurt and also feeling the optimism to keep going.
